Just put my little buddy down a couple days ago. His little legs were just giving out on him. What really hurts so bad is his spirit was still so strong. He still wanted to play fetch. But he couldn't hardly walk let alone run. He still was getting excited about getting his food, but he couldn't jump all the way from the kitchen to the living room like he used to. He wanted to bound up and down the steps or jump off the couch or bed. He just couldn't, or he would try and would fall down. When I had to help him just stand up in the morning to get out of bed, I called and made the appointment. My vet had tried a few different things. He had other health issues too and was already on several meds. His little body couldn't take much more. It was time but it still sucks and I'm having a very hard time with this one even though I've been through this several other times. But I know he had to be hurting and he's not hurting any more.

Thank you Doc...I had to let go my best friend in life yesterday after 13 years, hardest decision of my entire life, but he passed away in my arms, without pain, swiftly, and grateful, he felt no fear, was very very calm, and i was able to thank him with all my love and heart as he was falling asleep for the last time. My heart is completely shattered but at least I know he left in peace, and that as the last act of love for him, I had the opportunity to help him pass away in my arms while thanking him for an entire life of love.

Very helpful. Thank you. I think my four month old puppy has hip displasia and am taking her tomorrow for an X-ray. She and her two siblings were dumped in our village at 6 weeks, and ran up to me as their savior(!). I am trying to rehome them as I already have two dogs and can’t afford more, and this condition is bound to hamper my efforts. It is so sad, and so common in this country (Cyprus) - and so shameful.

I created FIP warriors Portugal 4 years ago. Treated and cured more than 600 cats with ZERO relapses! The brand of GS-441524 its so important! And yes GS-441524 is more effective than Remdesivir. And less expensive. I always use injections cause i realized that pills are less effective and we have to prolong treatment for more time...as i am an MD, i always want a Veterinarian to follow the cat and give the injections. Portugal is not like usa and most Veterinarians give the shots. Plus many cats need additional treatment that just a Veterinarian can provide, besides all the exams and lad tests are need to be done. Actually there are almost 60 brands of GS-441524 in the black market, most are not good and kill the cats. I always used a brand called Lucky that cured me all these cats with zero relapses! Also FIP warriors have the experience that many vets dont have in treating the disease. So FIP has a cure and the faster we start treatment the best! There is no time to make tons of unnecessary exams. Just an hemogram, a proteinogram and a abdominal ultrasound are enough to diagnose the disease and start treatment asap. The cats i lost were always because veterinarians took to much time to start treatment. Loved the podcast! Thank you so much

Thank you 🙏🏼 this is very helpful ❤ we have one of our dogs with Leukaemia right now. He is a 13 - nearly 14 year old Bichon Havanese. We elected not to give him chemo nor radio therapy. We give him two human capsules of turmeric and two human size capsules of Neem Leaf 🍃 Powder Daily in the morning on a completely empty stomach along with 1ml Fercobsang (iron liquid) dissolved in about 9ml water. This is given with syringe to help him swallow the capsules 💊 Have tried other methods of delivery but he is noticeably more lethargic without this regimen. He gets a teaspoon of calcium powder in his two feeds each day too. So far he remains quite thin, but has energy to do all he normally does. When he sleeps he sleeps deeper, but he goes about his day as normal and still loves all his favourite things. It has been 10 months since his symptoms began and 8 months since the diagnosis was finally made. Our vet suggested he might have another year. We are making each moment as joyful as possible. We mentally log his status daily. And now, with this information we feel better prepared for how and when to recognise “it’s time”. For us, Death is a natural process of life. This realisation has helped in the past when we have had other animals we have decided to assist their passing. The beautiful thing is the privilege we have had to have their blessed presence in our family and our journey of life. May everyone know peace and joy for themselves and their pets when they are with us, and when they are waiting on the other side of the 🌈 rainbow bridge 🌁 for us 🙏🏼 😌 ❤

Clyde is 14 and visibly slowing down. I am preparing as best I can, learning and noticing. We probably have a year longer, maybe more, maybe not. But I am going to love him until his last breath. I will be a disconsolate mess for quite some time, but forever grateful for the companionship and love he gives. He has the most adorable traits, and has no idea of unhappiness. He is the best friend I ever had.

The vet felt a tumor inside my dog (won’t give details) 3-4 weeks ago. Tried to get chest X-ray to see if it had mastasized to the lungs but only was able to get one view and nothing showed. He did lab work to confirm diagnosis but that was right on the border of being positive. He told me he felt confident that my dog had cancer. The kind of cancer spreads very rapidly to lungs and other parts of the body. Even with treatment, it would only provide him with 1 maybe 2 yrs of life. Without treatment, I was told maybe a few months. He was doing a lot better with some anti inflammatory and antibiotics. This morning I noticed not only his back legs giving out but also the front although not nearly as unstable as his back kegs. He went 2 weeks without his anti inflammatory only because I saw improvement and have been so busy getting to his vet for more medication is a 45 min drive there. However I did pick up that medication and gave it to him today praying he will be able to walk. Guessing so much pain that he won’t even eat his pigs ear which is his favorite! Today when my son and I got home, he managed to get enough strength to take a few steps to get to the door to greet us which I know was extremely difficult for him😢. I am questioning how long I should give him his anti inflammatory meds to see if they work and he turns the corner? If they do not work, I will have to make the difficult decision to put him down since he cannot even go outside to use restroom. I just want clear answers.

I got a fawn and tan Doberman pincher when he was the greatest dog ever. Saved my life, twice. He was 13 years old when he contacted GDV one morning at about 3:45a.m. Within an hour he was in the emergency room. The vet told me that although I had pet insurance, it didn't cover this surgery and that is have to come up with 10k before they'd operate. At the time I was homeless and couldn't afford the surgery. Luke passed away due to his injuries that night. R.I.P my boy.

I have been in the industry for over 20 years. As an RVT, CVPM, and partner in a private practice I have hit the glass ceiling of how much more I can help my practice and community. My experience is not unique in the trenches that we have had zero dvm applicants in the last 5 years of ads running. I have zero interest in performing high level tasks that should be handled by a DVM, but I would love the opportunity to advance my training to offer more support to my practice and community. I do believe there is room in the industry for a midlevel position to provide some model of wellness care.

I'm trying to get informed so when I see my vet we can talk options. Now my question is what can I provide my dog with Other than the pet silver respiratory, to help my dog breathe better on a daily basis. I was looking at the mushroom tinctures, breathe better tonics, Inula helenium, (pimobendan compounded tablet)= they no longer recommend this?

Thank you for your show. It was fun and enjoyable. We just got a mini schnauzer on March 17. We’ve named her Penny Lane, but it retrospect, we should have named her Paddy for St. Patrick’s Day. Anyway, she has her normal floppy ears, but her tail is docked, and it always makes me feel so bad for her. My other small dogs, a cocker spaniel mix and a Yorkie-poo mix both have terrific long tails that dust off the lower shelves. Even our two standard poodles, whose tails are docked, have more tail than Penny. I agree with you. I hate the idea of docking tails and cutting ears. That said, we LOVE our Penny Lane. She’s a real treasure. Currently, she is 11.4 lbs and 16 weeks old. Our vet says she is progressing normally and in good health.

She may be Autistic, like I am, and took what you said LITERALLY. We are supposed to respect and listen to you. She probably won't be back, because she felt your judgement and hates you, now. She really thought it there could be a difference between being inside or outside. Like the difference between inside light and heat and outside sun and heat. Air pressure is different inside and outside, too. She probably knows more about cats than you do, too. At least about their feelings. Autistic people love cats, and take very good care of their pets. She'll find another vet. You should know and understand about hurting people's feelings as a professional. Showing how insensitive you are by monetizing your mockery of her, on RUclips proves it. If this was just a joke and not a real situation, you really need a therapist. All she wanted to do was make her cat feel better. All you want to do is get a few likes.
